I saw a Red Bull commercial that was poking fun of Catholic confession. The tension I had after it was over was whether I was mad that they could be so disrespectful or whether it was an opportunity to remind and teach others what it really is and why it’s important.
Without ranting, I will say that the idea of talking in confidence for accountability and release (confession) is making a comeback in conversation among Protestant Christians. I would suggest we all seek a confessor, a spiritual director that is able to hear out the cries of our hearts and commit to pray with us and for us as we seek to live holy in God.
So, if you see things that can be straightened out, don’t get angry or even. Simply take the opportunity to teach others the truth and lead them toward a deeper understanding of spiritual life.
